What are PACKING LIST CUBES, and how do they work?

The PACKING LIST CUBES are effectively what you get if a packing cube, and a packing list, had a baby – and had brothers and sisters to cover off a whopping ten travel packing categories in one comprehensive and proven kit! It’s why we can confidently say it’s the most comprehensive packing solution there is. The names woven onto the outside of each cube come together as an empowering jingle so that you start with the first cube, work your way through the packing list sewn into its inner spine that outlines all the items you’re to think through for that cube, and so you go onto the next cube in the jingle until you’re done. In this way, you’ll not only remember to pack everything you need into each cube, but to pack each cube itself - while being empowered in doing so and as you head out the door.

What materials are used in the PACKING LIST CUBES? Are they eco-friendly?

The PACKING LIST CUBES are crafted using jacquard and oxford fabrics woven just for us, predominantly from cotton. These fabrics are coated to ensure water resistance, durability, and easy cleaning. We've made conscious efforts to minimize the use of plastics like PVC, employing them only where absolutely necessary to ensure the product is fit-for-purpose and so will remain in-use - reducing overall environmental impact.

How do the integrated packing lists work and how do I know they’ll work for me?

Each cube has been thoughtfully designed to store a category of items you’ll need while you travel, and the woven packing list sewn into the bag’s inner spine, details the packing list of items for that cube. The lists were developed by analysing hundreds of packing lists; and cross-checking these against department store product categories and lists; as well as research into the items people most often forget to pack. The final lists were then tested with a representative consumer group of women to ensure they included all that needed to be packed without being cumbersome.

Are the PACKING LIST CUBES suitable for all types of luggage?

Absolutely! Hard or soft shell, the PACKING LIST CUBES have been specifically designed for luggage and travel. They hold their shape without rigidity or sharp edges and are as baggage weight conscious as feasible.

How much can each cube hold, and do they add significant weight to luggage?

The cubes have been designed to be generous enough to thoughtfully store all that you need but not be excessive in size by any means. The bag dimensions were central to the discussion with our consumer group – ensuring we are very mindful of the prized luggage space and dreaded airport luggage scale.

Are they washable or easy to clean?

The bags have been designed to be easily wipeable. Our jacquard and oxford weave outer and lining fabrics respectively, are made of predominantly cotton but have been coated to be water-resistant, durable, and wipeable. Washing these will damage this important outer coating – designed to ensure they’re protected and wipeable. What’s more, for all liquid containing or potentially grubby areas of the cubes (e.g. make-up brush storage), we have used PVC materials to ensure these are very easily wipeable and have opted for waterproof zippers to contain any spills.

Do you offer different sizes or colours for the PACKING LIST CUBES?

We will be releasing some alternatives for items like A HAIR DO - in the event you don’t use a hair styling tool – and a few others based on customer feedback from the market. In terms of colourways, our consumer group prioritised our firmament black colourway, as well as two further colourways. Follow us on social media and sign-up to our subscriber list to ensure you’re kept up to date on new product releases and alternatives and have priority access to them when we bring them to market.

How do I pack effectively using PACKING LIST CUBES?

“GLOWING UP, LOVE YOU, AMP IT UP, A HAIR DO, HUG THOSE CURVES. BOOST YOURSELF, FLOSS IT, POWER IT UP, BOSS IT. YOU’VE GOT THIS”. Our jingle is a handy to do list of each of the cubes to be packed and the order to pack them in. Start with the first bag (GLOWING UP) in the kit, work your way through its packing list, and then move on to the next cube (LOVE YOU) and so on. Before you know it, your passports, liquids and onboard items are packed too and you’re breezing confidently out of the door with peace of mind. The first five cubes in the jingle are intended for your check-in bag – if you’re taking one. The next cubes are intended for your hand luggage. Although we do like to pack AMP IT UP (the make up one) in our hand luggage too if you’re below your liquids allowance - an insurance policy in the event of a delayed or lost bag. YOU'VE GOT THIS is the final cube and it safely stores all you need for check-in and to get through airport security, designed to go into your airport tote or onto your hand luggage handles. This bag also clips on your seat when aboard with all you plan to reach for in transit (no overhead stowage struggle for you!).

Can I use these cubes for non-travel purposes (e.g., home organisation)?

Absolutely! We know you’ll be obsessed with the thoughtful way they’re designed and so – from the perfectly thought-out make-up bag to the nurturing LOVE YOU vanity cube; the devices sleeve for your notebook etc. It’s all just so practical and lovely to use as our consumer group found.

Do you have tips for maximising luggage space with these cubes?

The first five cubes in the jingle are intended for your check-in bag – if you’re taking one. The next cubes are intended for your hand-luggage. Although we do like to pack AMP IT UP (the make up one) in our hand luggage too if you can do so within your liquids allowance - as an insurance policy in the event of a delayed or lost bag. The final cube - YOU’VE GOT THIS – is designed for everything you need to check in, clear security, and will want to reach for when aboard (no overhead stowage struggle for you!). If you’re packing really tight for a short stay away, use the lists but only pack the cubes that will help you at your destination. This means you might reduce to just GLOWING UP (leaving LOVE YOU behind), and also opt to pack with the HUG THOSE CURVES list but leave the cube itself behind. You may also then opt not to take the FLOSS IT accessories pieces.

What are your shipping options and delivery times?

We offer both standard and express shipping options for UK and international customers. Here’s how it works:

UK Shipping:

All orders are shipped with tracking, and you’ll receive your tracking information as soon as your order is dispatched. Orders placed before noon are dispatched the same business day; all others are shipped within one working day.

Do you ship internationally? Are there additional fees for international orders?

Yes, we ship internationally to select destinations, including the EU, US, Canada, and Singapore.

  • Enjoy free shipping on orders above the following thresholds:

  • For orders below these values, DHL Express shipping rates are calculated at checkout.

RETURNS, EXCHANGES, AND REFUNDS

What is your return policy for PACKING LIST CUBES?

We accept returns within 30 days of delivery if they remain in perfect, unused condition - this means unwashed, unused, odour-free, and repacked in their original packaging as a complete subset.

  • For UK orders: Returns are free, with no shipping or handling fees. You’ll receive a prepaid return shipping label.
  • For international orders:
    Returns must be initiated from the country where your order was delivered.
    A flat return fee (US $25 / CA $35 / SG $35) is deducted from your refund for tax, duty, and returns handling, unless your return is due to a manufacturing fault. In all instances, you’ll receive a DHL Express prepaid return label.
  • If your return does not meet these eligibility conditions, we’ll notify you and offer to return the product to you at your expense.

  • Refunds are issued to your original payment method, minus any applicable international return fee, and are processed within 10–14 business days after your returned item is received and inspected.

Do you offer exchanges?

Yes! If your item is faulty or arrives damaged, we’re happy to offer an exchange for a replacement at no additional cost. For change-of-mind returns, we recommend returning your item for a refund and placing a new order for the desired product.

How long does it take to process a refund?

Once we receive and inspect your returned item, your refund will be processed to your original payment method within 10–14 business days. If your return does not meet our eligibility conditions, we will notify you and give you the option to have the product returned to you at your expense.​

What inspired LIVING BY DESIGN to create PACKING LIST CUBES?

Have you ever felt so drained from the pre-travel rush that packing feels like the insurmountable last hurdle? Wishing a fairy
godmother would swoop in and deliver you a perfectly packed suitcase? We call those feelings 'packrastination' and 'packxiety,' and most travellers have them! Turns out they’re quite well-founded given the incidence of 'paccidents’! That is what inspired LIVING BY DESIGN: the desire to develop packing solutions so well thought-through, they'll empower you to start, have you packing confidently in half the time, and leave you feeling accomplished.

Are your products sustainably made?

We are committed to being as eco-friendly as possible While ensuring our products remain durable and functional. Where are your products manufactured?

Our designs are conceptualised and managed from our base in London. Given the specialised jacquard weaving looms and machinery required to weave packing lists as finely as necessary, our products are globally sourced and manufactured. We partner with skilled artisans and facilities that meet our high standards for quality and ethical production.
